Being a maker based in the heart of the Potteries, ceramics have always been a keen interest of mine. I find my inspiration through my strong interest in the outdoors, from the landscapes to the colour palettes and the surfaces found within. These elements are the key influences in my work.

My main material is clay, but I like to apply other media when necessary to add an alternative feel. The process I usually use is the technique of slip casting, creating pieces from my own designs. As the surface textures are an important element within my work, I like to explore the relationship between the body of the clay and the glazes used for the decoration process.

I have recently developed a strong metallic influence within my work after researching into current trends and popular colour palettes for the coming year. The use of dark colours contrasting with a brighter colour is a strong theme throughout, with each piece revealing an inner precious element through my glaze decoration.

My ceramics are both functional and aesthetically pleasing pieces; they are glazed inside which creates a watertight finish with a highly smoothed exterior making them pleasing to the touch. Organic forms inspire my pieces, whilst the metallic surfaces bring to them a contemporary feel.
